Modified Mycotoxins and Multitoxin Contamination of Food and Feed as Major Analytical Challenges

Mycotoxins, as natural products of molds, are often unavoidable contaminants food and feed, to which the increasingly evident climate changes contribute a large part. The consequences more or less severe range from economic losses worrying health problems fatal outcome. One best preventive approaches is regular monitoring feed for presence mycotoxins. However, even under conditions frequent, comprehensive, conscientious controls, desired protection goal may not be achieved. In fact, it happens that, despite favorable analytical results that do indicate high mycotoxin contamination, symptoms their occur in practice. most common reasons this simultaneous several different mycotoxins whose individual content does exceed detectable prescribed values and/or alteration form mycotoxin, renders impossible analytically determined using routine methods. When such contaminated foods enter living organism, toxic effects occur. This article aims shed light on above order pay attention them, work reduce impact, and, eventually, overcome them.
